Beijing to renovate 218 Hutong alleys

    Chinanews ,Beijing, June 15 - Beijing is planning to renovate 218 Hutong alleys within 2007, as they are the symbol of Beijing lifestyle, according to Beijing 2008 Ecoenvironmental Construction Command Center.
    Currently, the renovation project has been on trial in 4 Hutong alleys in Dongcheng, Xicheng, and Xuanwu districts (one in each district), and the plans for renovating the two in Dongcheng and Xicheng districts have been approved by experts, and will be put into practice soon. The projects in other Hutong alleys will be based on the experience gained in the four trial ones.
