According to the new course principles, the teachers should strengthen students’ four kinds of language abilities ( listenning, speaking, reading and writing) during the teaching and weaken phrase and grammar teaching at the same time. The students’ writing norms also influence the students' writing scores directly. After a long-term teaching , I found that developing the students' writing ability is a difficult task .It is hypothesized that students' low scores in writing can be raised by standardizing their writing and pushing them to master the common phrases and sentence structures. This hypothesis is verified by a three-week classroom teaching.
We all know that classroom English learning is one of the most important methods in junior middle school English education. Therefore, the teachers should stimulate students' interest, so that they can learn better. Students' English writing is a difficult task for students, as well as the difficulty of teachers. There are many different ways to help them to improve writing skills. Phrase teaching is one important methold, and sentence structure teaching is another important method. After I taught them for two months, I found that the study atmosphere of English wasn't good. When the students faced writing, they felt helpless and anxiety. Quite a number of students remained blanks in practical exercises... So I decided to use phrases and sentence structures to help them to improve their writing ability.
Teaching which appeals to learners’ needs can facilitate learning .It is necessary to investigate why the students were showing less and less interest, and devoting less and less effort in English writing. So interviews were held and questionnaires were issued. It is found that:
